Consider/Approve Request from Transportation Department to
Declare Property Surplus and Dispose Via Sealed Bids

Background Information:

The Transportation Department requests the Board to declare surplus two (2) 1995 International 78-passenger school buses (numbers 75 and 76). The Transportation Department took the school buses out of service due to age. Although these buses are no longer of any use to the System, it is estimated that salvage value of the buses is in excess of the value specified in TCA §49-6-2007(d)(1), which states “Surplus personal property in local school systems which has no value or has a value less than two hundred fifty dollars ($250), may be disposed of without the necessity of bids as required by this section.” Therefore, sealed bids will be sought to dispose of this surplus property if approved by the Board.

Staff Recommendation:

I recommend the Board declare the above-noted buses as surplus and approve the disposition via the most economical method as described above.
